Li An became more and more furious as he raged on. Seeing the blood seeping out of the bite marks Guan Xiaoke had made, he pointed at her wound and growled in front of the mirror: "Look what you did to yourself. Tell me, who are you"
The more agitated he became, the tighter his grip on Guan Xiaoke's hair grew; she felt like her scalp was being torn off, tears streaming down from the pain. Knowing that she had provoked this second young master to such an extent, at this moment she must lower herself and admit without hesitation: "I am a dog."
"Don't flatter yourself!" Li An finally let go of her hair but started poking her head with his fingers while cursing: "You're not even worth being called a dog. Dogs are so loyal, you're such a traitor! We have fed and housed you for all these years, yet without saying a word, you ran away secretly. I thought you were dead. But now that you’re alive again, you come back to be a traitor!"
Beaten by Li An's scolding, Guan Xiaoke’s head kept banging against the wall behind her, making ‘thud’ sounds; she was dazed and responded vaguely.
This made Li An even more infuriated: "With your stupidity, you still want to be a traitor You think because you have attended university that makes you qualified for such absurd thoughts. Have I ever seen someone as dull-witted as you wanting to become a traitor, it’s a waste of the country's resources to raise people like you..."
Guan Xiaoke didn't understand how things escalated so quickly to this level but knew Li An's character well enough to know that arguing back would only make him more furious and unreasonable. Therefore, she had no choice but to resort to her ultimate weapon – silence.
As the midday sun illuminated Li An’s handsome face, a hint of fatigue appeared in his expression. He finally let Guan Xiaoke off and straightened his collar, sitting on one side of the chair, stretching out his long legs comfortably: "Go and pour me some water; I’m thirsty." The tone was imperious.
Everything seemed to revert back to how it used to be many years ago when they lived together in Li Family’s luxurious mansion. Guan Xiaoke mechanically walked over to the water dispenser, poured a cup of water for this domineering second young master and carefully presented it before him.
After gulping down two sips of water, his agitated mood calmed somewhat; he glanced at the travel bag Guan Xiaoke had packed and asked in an acid tone: "Why are you packing your things Are you going to run away with some random guy"
With just this one sentence, he turned the traitor Guan Xiaoke into a woman who would cheat on her husband. Guan Xiaoke was used to his taunting and didn't think much of it; she knew Li An had an intense dislike for Zhou Guangtao and could never mention him, as that would only lead to greater trouble.
"I'm volunteering at the orphanage. The director called yesterday and said they're in dire need of books. Since I’m about to graduate, I thought I might as well clean out my stuff that I no longer use and give it to them," Guan Xiaoke smoothly lied without a trace of guilt. Over the years, under Lian An's relentless torment, she had picked up some sly tricks, such as telling lies with ease.
Lian An’s gaze swept over her face, his eyes filled with suspicion and mockery, as if saying, "How could someone like you do something like this" His next words were even more cutting: "With your pitiful self, you actually want to emulate charity work! With these old books and notebooks that you're donating, do you think you can change the world You’re an idiot!"
Guan Xiaoke quickly put on a slightly embarrassed expression, rubbing her nose. "I’m not capable of such things. Such noble deeds should be carried out by someone as great as Mr. Lian. The orphanage truly needs your assistance."
"You’re an idiot! You actually learned how to sabotage me for your brother Is that right" With every word, Lian An would come up with a derogatory term to hurl at Guan Xiaoke, seemingly proving his disdain and quelling his pent-up anger.
"How dare I undermine you Our family's contributions to charity are nationally recognized. This little habit of mine is just being influenced by my stepmother."
Guan Xiaoke cleverly brought up Lian An’s mother, knowing that in the invulnerable Lian family, no one could rival or threaten her position. Even someone as strong-willed and domineering as his father would have to heed her wishes.
Indeed, when Lian An heard Guan Xiaoke mention his mother, his arrogance diminished slightly, though he still looked very haughty. He took a sip of water and instructed with an air of authority: "Tomorrow you’re not allowed to take another unjustified day off; get back to work at the company."
Thinking about living in the same building as this tyrant every day, being constantly hounded by his malevolent spirit, Guan Xiaoke felt suffocated. She exclaimed, “Second Brother, I don’t want to go out and work anymore; I want to pursue a master’s degree!” Her face lit up with determination.
Guan Xiaoke’s words struck a sensitive nerve in Lian An, who abruptly stood from his chair, towering over her. She quickly stepped back two steps.
"Come up with a better excuse! Fool, if you wanted to pursue your master’s degree, why did you do it so late Why cause a commotion at the recruitment fair for Anrui International Do you think it's an audition like Super Girl You just saw me yesterday and feigned illness to sneak back here. Today, you're trying to escape with that old bag of yours and now talking about your studies. Don’t think I’m as dumb as you! You’re delusional!"
Guan Xiaoke knew she couldn't hide from Lian An anymore, so she steeled herself and stuttered, "Yes, I don’t want to work at Anrui International."
Lily didn't expect her to dare say this and smiled in surprise: "Alright, my sister has been out for five years and indeed became more bold; she dares to openly defy me. Yes, this is good, it shows that my sister has become successful. If you don’t want to work at Ainer International, then don't go. Eldest Brother won't force you."
As he spoke, a gentle smile appeared on his face; under the sunlight, it was warm and charming. Guan Xiaoke was frightened by An Li's unusual gentleness and knew that once he was kind to her, he would later become crueler.
Indeed, his pupils tightened up, flashing icy coldness: "There are a total of 68 students in your school who were hired at Ainer International this time. Starting from tomorrow, none of them will need to go to Ainer International anymore. The reason is simple; they have all been held back by Guan Xiaoke like a mouse turd."
Guan Xiaoke knew that An Li wouldn’t let her off easily, as he knew where she was weak. He struck at the vital point and dealt a fatal blow.
Seeing Guan Xiaoke's drooping appearance, Lily knew that he had once again accurately targeted the problem.
An Li, who grew up in a powerful family, hid an air of arrogance and arrogance within him. He never spoke softly to anyone but was unwilling to let go of what he deemed important. To him, if threats could achieve his goals, he wouldn't hesitate to use them repeatedly.
Lily's handsome face approached Guan Xiaoke with smug satisfaction, speaking in an incredibly suggestive tone: "In consideration of our once intimate relationship, I can offer two positions for you to choose from at the company."
Would he be so kind!
Guan Xiaoke was furious inside but still acted pitifully, hoping that this young master really had taken his medicine wrongly and would suddenly show mercy.
"Choose between being my secretary or personal assistant," An Li’s head leaned closer again, his warm breath slightly touching Guan Xiaoke's face. "Of course, you can choose both."
Go to hell, thought Guan Xiaoke as she looked at An Li’s infuriating face and screamed in her heart He Yufan’s golden saying, but ultimately heard her weak voice say: "I’ll take the secretary position; someone like me who is foolish and incapable won’t be able to handle more."
Lian glared at her resentfully before leaving.
Guan Xiaoke watched Lian’s figure disappear, then slowly squatted down on the ground. Her frail arms tightly hugged her knees, and her black hair cascaded like a long satin ribbon over her chest as she silently cried, tears streaming down her face.
Guan Xiaoke didn’t want to be chased by sixty-seven classmates who were criticizing her, so the next day, she could only passively follow He Yufan, who was full of vigor, to work at Anrui International.
Although He Yufan and others had Guan Xiaoke come in for an extra day of work, they did not make any real progress. The human resources department provided them with a day of training.
In the morning when Guan Xiaoke came to work, Anrui International made unified allocations to more than one hundred new hires based on their majors and specialties. These newcomers were distributed across various departments within Anrui International and its subsidiaries. By some stroke of luck or human intervention, He Yufan, Ye Wenxin, and Guan Xiaoke all ended up staying at the headquarters of Anrui International.
Ye Wenxin was assigned to the administrative department as a probationary clerk, while He Yufan, with her outstanding appearance and impressive bust size, was allocated to the public relations department for probation. As expected, Guan Xiaoke was assigned to work at the executive office as a probationary secretary.
When others heard that Guan Xiaoke would be working under Lian, many eyes brimming with surprise, envy, or resentment shot towards her. None of them mocked her for being just a secretary assistant.
Guan Xiaoke, with her battered little body, followed the head of the human resources department to Lian’s office without any expression on her face.
Lian’s female secretary was named Anna, a stunning beauty who combined looks, brains, and talent. When she saw that the human resources staff had brought Guan Xiaoke over, she first subtly sized up Guan Xiaoke from head to toe before ringing the bell to report this information to Lian inside.
While Guan Xiaoke was still wondering what expression to wear when meeting President Lian, she was already being led into his executive office. The interior of Lian’s office was exquisitely decorated; however, with the dazzlingly handsome Lian seated there, all the luxurious and beautiful decorations in the room were relegated to background status.
When Lian, who was reading documents, seemed to casually glance at the door, Guan Xiaoke felt as if pricked by a needle and was startled.ous To deal with a little girl, you actually mobilized the underground forces here under your family's control. Aren't you afraid that Uncle Li will find out""So what if he finds out When my mom left...
