his new home and the unfamiliar street scene outside the window, Zhou Guangtao felt a sense of mystery wrapped in the dim lights. The faint light outside flickered past. He narrowed his eyes slightly...Chapter 33 (Part 2) Drifting in the Rain

Ran Xu saw Yan Luoxi trembling all over, her face pale and ashen, looking like a seriously ill patient about to faint. He was genuinely afraid, "Luoxi, I'm sorry, Luoxi, stay calm, you mustn't be harmed!" With that, he picked up Yan Luoxi and rushed into the house.

Standing not far away, Yu Hong was stunned by what she saw and thought for a moment before following in.

Yan Luoxi was laid down by Ran Xu. She bit her lips with an expressionless look; her lower lip had turned so red that it seemed as if blood might soon drip out. Seeing this, Ran Xu’s heart was filled with alarm and he pleaded incessantly: "Luoxi, if you're angry, hit me, scold me, I’m the one who made a mistake, don’t treat yourself like this..."

Yan Luoxi's heart was full of gloominess; her voice quivered with anger as she spoke, "Why do you take advantage of me in such a way What gives you the right to use me like this Whether your Mei Sister’s death is pitiful or not has nothing to do with me. Why are you treating me like this"

"I'm sorry, I’m so sorry…" Ran Xu knelt half-way in front of Yan Luoxi and begged for forgiveness without ceasing, "Luoxi, I was wrong; I should have told you everything from the beginning. But I was afraid, afraid that you wouldn’t forgive me..."

Seeing Ran Xu's pale face and a tear streaming down his cheek, Yan Luoxi struggled to suppress the rage welling up inside her and pointed outside, "Would it be okay if you go out Let me stay alone for a while."

"Alright, Luoxi, I'll leave. Don’t get upset; calm down!" Ran Xu stood up, smoothed Yan Luoxi’s wind-tousled hair, "Promise me that don't think about anything recklessly or make any rash decisions. Take some rest and we’ll talk later."

Yan Luoxi nodded lightly: "Alright!"

After watching Nan Xu leave, Yan Luoxi remained silent for half a minute before quickly retrieving her wallet and phone from the suitcase on one side. She then tiptoed to the door and peeked through the crack.

The commotion she had just made with Nan Xu had already alarmed Uncle Chang and Aunt Chang; they were standing in the hallway, eyes wide with alarm, murmuring something to Nan Xu. Upon glancing back at Yan Luoxi's room, Nan Xu gestured for Yu Hong to watch over while he went to another room with Uncle Chang and Aunt Chang.

As soon as Nan Xu’s figure vanished from sight, Yan Luoxi trembled as she opened the door. Standing not far away, Yu Hong heard the noise and turned her head, looking at her in surprise.

The two stared at each other for a second before Yan Luoxi dashed towards the back door. It seemed that Yu Hong understood her intention and knew that once she left, there was no turning back; thus, she pretended not to notice her.

Yan Luoxi opened the door, letting a gust of wind sweep into the corridor and ruffle her hair. As soon as she stepped out, lightning split the sky, followed by thunderous roars.

The rain was already pouring outside, yet she hesitated not for an instant to rush out, with the howling of wind and rain echoing in her ears. The trees in the garden swayed violently under the strong winds. She did not know where she found the strength, but she walked incredibly fast, like a gust of wind, soon reaching the back garden's low wall and effortlessly scaling it.

Yan Luoxi didn't know where she was going; all she knew was that she had to leave this terrifying place and escape from the man who had deceived her with such malice.

She ran aimlessly in the rainstorm, wanting to hail a taxi but finding them particularly scarce on rainy days in this small town. She searched for a long time without success.

The rain grew heavier; Yan Luoxi reached up to wipe her face, only to feel hot tears streaming down instead of rainwater. In fact, she had been crying with blurred vision for quite some time now, unable to distinguish between near and far objects. All she saw was a foggy blur stretching endlessly ahead.

Yan Luoxi wandered aimlessly in the heavy rain until she felt exhausted, then stopped and looked around in bewilderment.

By this time, she had long left the small town, surrounded by unfamiliar mountain landscapes. She didn't know where exactly she was, drenched to the bone by the downpour, trembling from cold.

No matter what Ran Xu did to her and how many betrayals and deceptions there were in life, Yan Luoxi did not want to die of hypothermia in this rainstorm. She looked for a place to take shelter; spotting a large tree nearby with lush foliage that could provide cover from the torrential downpour.

Yan Luoxi risked being struck by lightning and staggered over to the tree, quickly pulling out her phone and turning it on.

She wanted to check her location through the GPS or call nearby traffic stations for help in sending a taxi.

By this time, she was completely drenched. Shivering, she opened her phone, where messages and missed calls started flooding in, some from Ran Xu and others from Li An.

Looking at Li An’s name on the phone screen, she suddenly remembered his previous warnings to her. Yan Luoxi pouted pitifully and started crying again.

She could cry over seeing Li An's name, but she lacked the courage to call Li An for help. She looked at the location on her phone and realized that she had taken a wrong turn; she was now in the northern part of the small town, even farther from Kunming city.

Standing under a tree shivering, Yan Luoxi couldn't think of any other solution but to hope that passing vehicles would stop for her and take her to nearby cities.

The heavy rain mercilessly pelted down; Luoxi didn’t dare stay underneath the large tree for long, fearing being struck by lightning. She moved to the roadside and peered around in the foggy rain, hoping some kind-hearted driver would stop and help her.

But it seemed as if fate was against her. After standing in the storm for a while, no car passed by. Her mental state had already been poor; being drenched by such heavy rain made her unable to bear it any longer. She felt dizzy and weak at the roadside.

Finally spotting a car driving through the fog, Yan Luoxi shouted and waved her hands frantically. Not only did the car not stop, but as it approached her, it suddenly sped up, splashing her with more rainwater.

Yan Luoxi felt incredibly unlucky; thinking of Zhou Guangtao's betrayal, Ran Xu’s deceit, and her own foolishness and narrow-mindedness, even if she had acted impulsively due to a breakup, wouldn't the heavens’ punishment be too harsh

The rain fell thickly and densely. Yan Luoxi was freezing cold, penetrating to the bone. She looked up at the leaden sky, unable to stop her tears from pouring out amidst the downpour., his understanding and gentleness were gradually seeping into her heart. With Zhou Guangtao's special approval, Yan Luoxi began to use her free time after work to search for suitable housing near her...
