Yan Luoxi's words were full of sarcasm and malice, making He Yufan's face turn alternately pale and green. She bitterly smiled at Yan Luoxi, her tone somber, filled with regret and bitterness.

"Luoxi, when we were studying, you never excelled in anything compared to me, so I could always do so with a clear conscience, looking very composed while taking care of you and being nice to you. Deep down, I actually thought that you were inferior to me."

However, your luck was better than mine; first, there was Brother Guangtao's love for you, then Li An went crazy over you. Just so happened both these men are the type of guys I like too, so I envied you until it drove me mad."

I always wanted to snatch them away from you; however, Li An is too domineering and I couldn't get close to him. Therefore, I got closer to Brother Guangtao who is refined and gentle, and fell irrevocably in love with him. I thought I had succeeded, that I had taken him away from you."

Actually, things belong to others no matter how hard one tries to snatch them away. Everyone's destiny is predetermined, and when I tried to take Li An away from you, I lost my job. When I attempted to make Brother Guangtao mine, I ended up losing everything."

You didn't compete for anything; instead, you just waited quietly, and things that belong to you remained yours. Li An loves you, Brother Guangtao loves you, now even a famous star Ran Xu has come into the picture, and he also adores you."

He Yufan wiped away tears flowing from her eyes and forced a smile, "Luoxi, I understand that you can't convince Guangtao to help me. I truly want to apologize to you. I must leave now, to live my own life."

As she watched He Yufan's back recede into the distance, Yan Luoxi felt an endless desolation enveloping her.

If only one could remain forever young and if time would stay still at its most beautiful moment...

When they were young, they were as pure as blank sheets of paper, and being nice to someone meant just that. Even if it came with some petty schemes, it was the cleverness that girls are born with. Ever since they fell into the big vat of society, everything changed.

Yan Luoxi retreated back into her room, thinking about He Yufan and Zhou Guangtao. Tears started to fall like a broken string of pearls from her eyes. She couldn’t hold it in anymore and cried out loud. In an attempt to control herself, she unconsciously covered her mouth, which turned her crying into heart-wrenching sobs.

That afternoon, Yan Luoxi held the phone in her hand while lost in thought, He Yufan’s words echoing in her ears.

Looking at Li An's number on her mobile phone, she hesitated many times before deciding not to make that call.

Zhou Guangtao, as of today, they had no connection anymore. Whether he succeeded or failed, it was his own fate and nothing to do with her.

Ran Xu returned home late at night this day. After returning, he only rested for a short while before getting up early in the morning to quickly pack his things. Around 7:30 AM, he left with Yan Luoxi and two large suitcases by car.

Yan Luoxi rolled down the window slightly, and cool morning wind rushed into the car through the window, blowing her hair around. The wind hit her face a bit painfully, but she still lifted her head bravely to look ahead, beginning a new journey.

Ran Xu took Yan Luoxi out in a hurry, but he had already meticulously arranged their itinerary beforehand. He planned on driving Yan Luoxi to Kunming first and then to nearby scenic spots where they would stay for some time before heading to Dali. If Yan Luoxi wished to travel further, he was going to take her abroad.

To have peace and quiet, the moment they left home, Ran Xu and Yan Luoxi both instinctively turned off their phones.

Driving on a road trip could be tiring for both the driver and passengers. But Ran Xu had an excellent way with words and quickly ignited Yan Luoxi's enthusiasm for travel. The two chatted happily about everything they saw along the way, making the journey enjoyable until they reached their destination.

It was already close to the end of the year, but Kunming's climate wasn't too cold or hot. It indeed lived up to its reputation as a city with spring-like weather all year round. Many people came here for遊玩, and Ran Xù had thoughtfully booked a quiet hotel early on, so Yan Luoxi didn't have to worry about anything.

After riding in the car all day, Ran Xù knew that Yan Luoxi was tired. When he sent her into the guest room, he told her to get some good rest and said that he would be in the neighboring room where she could call him if anything happened.

Yan Luoxi smiled at him and nodded, but as soon as the door closed behind her, her heart couldn't help but sink slightly. Her smile gradually faded away, and she sighed habitually.

Ran Xù had already been very considerate towards her; she must not think about unrelated people or matters anymore. Yan Luoxi kept reminding herself of this as she took a shower in the bathroom and then went to bed.

When Yan Luoxi woke up from her nap, it was already sunset outside. The evening breeze brushed past the golden curtains, while the pinkish afterglow resembled exquisite brocade with layers upon layers of rich colors that amazed everyone who saw them.

No matter how wonderful the scenery and events might be, they would all be in vain without her beloved by her side. Yan Luoxi couldn't help but think about Zhou Guangtao as she felt a wave of melancholy.

Just as she was feeling gloomy, the telephone next to her pillow rang. It was Ran Xù calling and asking her to get up for dinner downstairs together.

Ran Xù looked more energetic after his nap due to his special status; he always carried a baseball cap and sunglasses wherever he went. He was especially thoughtful towards Yan Luoxi, asking what she wanted to eat while recommending the local specialties along the way.

"How do you know so much about this place" Yan Luoxi couldn't help but ask curiously as Ran Xù seemed like a tour guide wherever they went.

Ran Xù's face showed a slight stiffness, but he then smiled and replied, "Because my hometown is here."

"Ah, this is your hometown!" Yan Luoxi exclaimed in surprise.

"This can't be considered my hometown; my family home is over a hundred kilometers away in the county town."

"Then do you want to go back and visit" Yan Luoxi suggested kindly.

"No." Ran Xu firmly refused, then thought for a moment and added, "There's no one left at my house, so I won't bother those neighbors by going back."

Yan Luoxi knew that home was a painful subject for Ran Xu, fell silent, and didn't press further.

"I know this place well and know there are many fun places here, which is why I brought you over," Ran Xu explained somewhat redundantly.

Yan Luoxi looked around at the scenery without thinking too much about what he said, nodding casually in response.

Ran Xu wasn't exaggerating when he said he knew this place well; the next day he took Yan Luoxi out of Kunming city to drive to some lesser-known but incredibly beautiful spots nearby for fun. He didn’t take her to Lijiang, yet the scenery they saw was even more stunning than that in Lijiang. He didn't bring her to Yaonan County to eat Fengji (stewed chicken), and yet what they tasted were incomparably delicious snacks.mpliant.Li An was moved by a wave of emotions. In the past, when he had nothing to worry about, he would imagine how Yan Luoxi’s soft voice and delicate body would lean against him.In the early days o...
