There were originally two elective art appreciation classes in the afternoon, but nobody was in the mood for class after such an incident.
Zhao Jiayin lay on his bed resting, Cao Ronghua bent his head over doing homework, Zhou Liren had his legs crossed and listening to MP3s, while Hao Ren prepared some materials that he would use tonight for tutoring.
"Let's go! I'm treating us all to dinner tonight. I've thought this through. If it comes down to it, I'll just drop out of school! Whether it's a punishment or probation, screw them!" Zhao Jiayin suddenly jumped up from his bed and said.
“Ah, why are you doing this to yourself,” Cao Ronghua turned around and tried to persuade him.
"The school always sides with those jerks. What's the point of studying in such a place!" Zhao Jiayin shouted out in frustration.
“That’s right!” Zhou Liren took off his headphones and said angrily, "Are we nothing just because they're the pride of our school”
Hao Ren didn't feel great either. In fact, apart from occasional disputes on basketball courts, there wasn’t much friction between the members of the basketball team and ordinary students. On the contrary, people like Huang Xujie relied on their connections with the basketball team to bully others, which was very annoying.
This time, when it came down to it, Zhao Jiayin's actions could indeed be described as impetuous. He had experienced several incidents of the basketball team occupying courts, and he already felt discontented about that. Plus, this time there were members who had provoked him at the barbecue restaurant among them. Instinctively, Zhao Jiayin assumed they were provoking him again, leading to an immediate outburst.
As Hao Ren thought of this, his mind suddenly clicked——on Thursday night, when he took Philosophy class and left school due to Grandma's high blood pressure episode, he didn't go to the playground at 8 PM. In other words, he had skipped Huang Xujie’s shift. Could it be him
When Hao Ren realized that the basketball team was seriously injured this time, his anger flared up again: If Huang Xujie incited these people from the basketball team to make trouble for Zhao Jiayin, there would be no room left for discussion!
"Let's go out for dinner! We might get kicked out of school tomorrow!" Zhao Jiayin patted them and shouted.
Zhao Jiayin is in a terrible mood right now. He knows that the school's handling of the situation will inevitably favor the basketball team, and considering this fight was started by him attacking first, he feels even more frustrated.
Hao Ren can't help feeling anxious about the future empty bed under his bunk. With the crucial match against Jinghua University on the horizon, no one knows what kind of punishment the school will impose!
Although Zhao Jiayin started this trouble, Hao Ren feels that he should take half the blame since he was involved in the fight too. Even if it means expulsion, he'll share the consequences with Zhao Jiayin.
"Let's go! I'll treat everyone to a meal!" Zhao Jiayin says.
Seeing his mood so bad, Zhou Liren and others can only agree to accompany him for dinner. The four of them head to a nearby restaurant in the Macro Plaza known for its delicious food.
Zhao Jiayin drinks heavily due to his poor mood; Zhou Liren and Cao Ronghua try their best to stop him but end up joining him in drinking. Hao Ren calls Zhao Yanzi's family, informing them that he won’t be coming over for dinner tonight, then joins Zhao Jiayin.
"Dammit, when I saw them heading towards our basketball court, I knew they were coming after you!" Zhao Jiayin gets louder and more aggressive as the alcohol takes effect.
Hao Ren feels deeply touched. He originally thought that the fight was solely because of the use of their basketball court, but now he understands it was driven by Zhao Jiayin's anger over his own situation.
"Those bastards have a perfectly good gym they could train in, yet they choose to come out here where there’s more chance for girls to see them!" Zhou Liren, with a black eye and visibly angry, slams the table as he speaks.
"Last time at the barbecue place we got away without fighting because we outnumbered them. This time, having recognized us they deliberately chose our court when there were other courts free to use, making it clear that this was aimed directly at us!" Cao Ronghua bangs his glass down on the table.
Hao Ren holds his wine glass tightly and remains silent.
"Haha, isn't this long-distance running champion 'Second Year'" Just as Hao Ren’s friends finish complaining, a voice dripping with schadenfreude comes from the door.
Turning around, Hao Ren sees Huang Xujie leading a group of boys swagger into the restaurant.
"I was waiting for you on the playground last Thursday. Why didn't you show up Were you scared" He approaches Hao Ren and asks.
Hao Ren looks at him and then asks, “Is today's incident related to you”
“Oh, you mean the fight in the basketball team.” Huang Xujie feigns helplessness and shrugs. "They wanted to fight for me, but I don’t need their support.
"So, you're saying that today's incident has nothing to do with you" Hao Ren asked for further confirmation.
Huang Xujie bent down, leaning close to Hao Ren, maintaining a distance of just five centimeters from him as he said arrogantly, "If I were to deal with you, I wouldn't need their help."
"Very well, then I won't bother with you today," Hao Ren retracted his intense gaze and spoke.
"Big talk! Hahaha... Such boldness from a second-year student..." The few guys behind Huang Xujie laughed loudly upon seeing Hao Ren's serious expression.
Bang!
The wine glass in Hao Ren's hand suddenly shattered.
Golden beer trickled down his palm and arm, splashing onto the ground below.
The few people who had been laughing heartily all fell silent at once.
Huang Xujie was slightly surprised: If today’s rumors about this kid taking on several opponents were true, he wasn't sure if he could actually beat him. He thought the kid must have been scared and hadn’t shown up last Thursday, but judging from his expression now, it didn't seem so. This kid is not to be underestimated...
However, Huang Xujie quickly composed himself and calmly said to Hao Ren, "Your friends are strong to dare fight them, but my grudge against you I'll settle personally."
"The basketball team’s issues have nothing to do with me, but they’re my friends. If necessary, I’ll step in for them! Second-year student, enjoy your meal well! It might be the last one you get! Unless something unexpected happens, disciplinary action will come out tomorrow!" He stood straight and walked towards the inside of the restaurant, waving his arm lazily toward Hao Ren as he spoke.
Swish!
Hao Ren suddenly got up from his seat, causing it to topple over with a bang.
A strong hand grabbed his clothes, stopping him in his tracks and preventing him from rushing after Huang Xujie.
Hao Ren turned around to see Zhao Jiayin shaking his head at him.
Hao Ren knew that Zhao Jiayin did not want the situation to escalate further. He understood that he couldn't escape this time, so he didn’t wish to involve Hao Ren any more than necessary.
"Huang Xujie's father is the vice mayor; once he steps in and says a word, everything else becomes pointless," Zhao Jiayin forcibly pulled郝仁 to sit down and said with a despondent tone.
The expression on 郝仁's face also darkened. He had initially thought this was just an internal school matter, but now it seemed he was being overly naive.
After they left, Cao Ronghua stood there for a few seconds before turning to ask 郝仁, "How did you break the cup"
郝仁 gave a slight苦笑, "The boss lady had given me a glass with a crack in it."
"Really" Zhou Liren, who felt his wrist strength was much greater than 郝仁's, was doubtful but still tried to crush the glass he was holding; however, he couldn't break it no matter how hard he tried.
郝仁 didn't bother explaining further. Seeing Huang Xujie calmly ordering food and drinks with his friends, he felt a bit disappointed.
What's the use of being strong if the school still ends up punishing Zhao Jiayin
Huang Xujie seemed confident, perhaps having already received some sort of assurance that his basketball team friends would escape unharmed from this incident. That's why he could come out to eat without a care in the world...
Thinking about how the captain of the basketball team had personally gone to the vice principal, 郝仁 realized that the basketball team would surely protect their own members...
Lu Qing might consider my status and protect me... but ultimately, Zhao Jiayin would have to take all the blame alone...
Looking at his good friend Zhao Jiayin opposite him who was drowning his sorrows with a gloomy expression while holding a broken glass, 郝仁 decided that no matter what, he had to stand up for this matter.
My father and mother haven't returned home yet; all connections are still not applicable... but now this matter has caught the attention of the entire school, and the school administration must have already been informed. With only Lu Qing's efforts, it might not be enough to turn things around...
To protect Zhao Jiayin, I'll just have to lose a bit of face for now. Huang Xujie's father is the vice mayor, so he can act freely within the school, but my future father-in-law by name is the chief shareholder of Donghai University and also the business leader of the entire Donghai economic zone!
If I don't ensure that the school handles this matter fairly, then I am not a prince consort!d.而趙焰紫掙紮著要抽手,但是抽不出來,就使勁在郝仁的掌心裡摳了一下。她的手掌小小的,捏起來就好像是冇有骨頭。Zhao Yanzi struggled to pull away but couldn't, instead digging into Hao Ren’s hand forcefully. Her small palm seemed boneless.轟!Bang!郝仁的腳掌裡,忽然放出...
