Chapter 545: Club!

The Eighth Radio Calisthenics, in place marching, go!

One, two, three, four...

In the early morning, Hao Ren was on his top bunk in the dormitory and faintly heard music playing outside.

"Brother Ren! Brother Ren! They have started school!" Zhou Lipeng, who was sleeping next to Hao Ren, pushed his bed and excitedly shouted.

Hao Ren, still half asleep, remembered that today was Zhao Yanzǐ's first day of school.

"Haha, radio calisthenics!" Zhou Lipeng jumped off the bed and ran barefoot to the balcony outside.

The students on the balconies of the dormitory buildings opposite Hao Ren’s building seven and those upstairs or downstairs were all coming out to watch the newly started Ling Zhao High School's morning exercises.

Hao Ren also stepped onto the balcony and saw that not far away, on the playground, one class after another was lined up in formation doing radio calisthenics.

Building seven where Hao Ren lived was just separated by a wall from Ling Zhao High School. His room 302 was high enough to overlook the courtyard, so he could clearly see what was going on.

"So many pretty girls!" Zhou Lipeng squinted his eyes and looked at the young female students on the playground with envy.

Hao Ren's gaze swept across the playground, looking for Zhao Yanzǐ. It should be said that freshmen in junior high still do morning exercises, unless it’s towards the second half of their final year when exams are approaching.

The students in junior high were exactly in the growth stage of puberty, so there was a big difference in height between different grades. Hao Ren focused on the tallest section and then looked through each row.

In the fourth column, second row, Hao Ren immediately saw Zhao Yanzǐ.

The radio calisthenics formation within each class was arranged according to height with girls in front and boys behind; shorter ones were at the front while taller ones were at the back.

Zhao Yanzǐ wasn’t particularly tall among her classmates, so she was standing second row. Behind her was Xiao Ling.

The third movement: kick-stretch!

Following the instructions from the radio music, Zhao Yanzǐ hurriedly changed her movements. She wore a school uniform and seemed absent-minded, but since she stood in the second row with teachers watching ahead of them, she didn’t dare act too casually.

Hao Ren couldn't help laughing at how silly it looked to see her do the radio calisthenics while wearing her school uniform. Zhao Yanzǐ was rather cute when lazily jumping around in her school clothes.

"Is Xiao Baomèi there or not" Zhou Lipeng saw Hao Ren laughing and asked curiously.

"I won't tell you." Hao Ren deliberately sounded cold, giving him a blank stare.

"Brother Ren, that's too mean!" Zhou Lipeng held the balcony railing and stretched out his neck to look for her himself.

However, all students in Ling Zhao High School wore light blue uniforms, which made it hard on his eyes trying to find Zhao Yanzǐ. How could his vision compete with Hao Ren's

Zhao Yanzǐ also looked up at the southern dormitory building from her position as she did the exercises.

This was their first day of school in high school, and also the first time doing calisthenics together. Many students from the dormitories on the upper floors were watching them do exercises from the balconies. Zhao Yanzi even wondered if Hao Ren was among them.

However, there were too many balconies to look at. Zhao Yanzi remembered that Hao Ren’s dormitory building was far away from their school, so she squinted her eyes and looked carefully but still could not find his figure. Instead, she made a few mistakes during the exercises which made her stand out in her class line.

Eighth section: Stretching!

The short set of calisthenics quickly reached its end as the pace slowed down.

"Yanzi, isn’t Uncle over there" Xiao Ling, who was doing exercises behind Zhao Yanzi, purposely took large steps and moved closer to her, whispering the question.

"Nope. His dormitory is very far away," replied Zhao Yanzi.

"You were looking for Uncle right I saw you make several mistakes today," said Xiao Ling.

"What do you mean I was thinking about my homework!" argued Zhao Yanzi.

After the calisthenics ended, each class left according to the music. In her school uniform, Zhao Yanzi was undoubtedly the most beautiful girl in her class.

When it came time for Class 2 Junior Three to exit the playground, Zhao Yanzi turned around and looked at the dormitories outside the wall, feeling odd and as if Hao Ren was watching her.

"Sleeping... sleeping..." When they saw the lively junior high school girls leaving the playground, Zhao Jiayin and Cao Ronghua lost interest and returned to their rooms from the balcony.

Their schedule was opposite to Hao Ren's. Apart from some mandatory major courses, most of them were not scheduled in the morning as they wanted to sleep late.

Zhou Liren stretched his neck out and looked for Hao Ren’s “cousin”, but finally gave up without finding her.

Meanwhile, Hao Ren's gaze never left Zhao Yanzi. He watched her playfully with Xiao Ling as she walked back to the classroom.

This scene of youth felt familiar, reminding Hao Ren of his own high school days. If he could go back and be in the same class as Zhao Yanzi during high school, it would have been very fun.

He checked the time; his first class was about to start. He then simply washed up and went to school.

When Hao Ren arrived at the classroom, Xie Yujia had already gotten there.

"Hey!" Xie Yujia waved her hand.

Dressed in a white v-neck T-shirt and jeans, Xie Yujia was as simple yet fresh-looking as ever. When Hao Ren entered the classroom, several boys gathered together to secretly look at Xie Yujia and pushed each other while laughing; they were probably betting on who would ask for Xie Yujia's phone number.

Seeing Xie Yujia greet Hao Ren with a smile, their hearts immediately turned cold.

Hao Ren casually glanced at these boys before sitting down next to Xie Yujia. These boys were probably freshmen and thought that Xie Yujia was also a freshman.

"How's the club registration going" Hao Ren asked her.

“Yeah, it’s all done now. President Lu happened to be in school yesterday, so he stamped it for me. I registered with the management office too; theoretically, our club is officially established,” Xie Yujia smiled and said.

"Alright." Seeing that the club had been established, Hao Ren felt relieved.

"Do you want to do some publicity Newly established clubs usually don't attract many students, but since it's the beginning of a new school year with freshers arriving, we can use this opportunity to hold recruitment activities at different venues."

Last night, she had thought up various events that could be organized by the club in order to try and recruit some members for Hao Ren, lest the calligraphy club become too desolate.

"It's alright. Lu Qi has already spread the word for me. In the afternoon, we will set up a small table near the dining hall," said Hao Ren.

"There won't be any promotional activities Do you want to ask Lu Linlin and Lu Lili for help" asked Xie Yujia with some confusion.

East Sea University encourages students to have colorful extracurricular activities, so there are often small clubs established by the students. However, newly founded clubs usually struggle to recruit members. Students would rather join long-established big clubs than small ones that are cold and quiet.

Moreover, the school stipulates that if a club does not have 50 members within one month of its establishment, it will lose its club status. In practice, over these years, only some large clubs like the Swimming Club and Chess & Card Game Society survive smoothly.

Xie Yujia was worried that Hao Ren's hard-won club would be canceled in a month, so she suggested to him to take advantage of the recruitment wave during freshmen orientation.

"It's okay...," said Hao Ren as he tried to reassure Xie Yujia. Although it was his club, Xie Yujia had put in much effort and energy for it.

Looking at Xie Yujia’s earnest expression, Hao Ren couldn’t help but smile. This was the kind of character she had – no matter what, she would try her best to do well in anything.

"Alright then! If you say there's nothing wrong, everything must be fine!" said Xie Yujia with relief as she smiled. She still believed in Hao Ren’s ability and realized that she was overthinking it.

After exchanging a few more words, Lu Linlin and Lu Lili entered the classroom, chatting and laughing while wearing floral skirts and black sandals.

The group of boys who had been staring at Xie Yujia were suddenly dazzled. While they thought Xie Yujia was pretty, their eyes lit up when the two sisters from the Lu family appeared – it was a breathtaking sight.

"Sir!"

Before the boys could even focus on them for a few seconds, Lu Linlin and Lu Lili suddenly quickened their pace and ran over to Hao Ren in the back of the classroom.

Snap… All these boys drew cold breaths at once.

This was what cruelty looked like! The moment they entered the classroom, they saw a quiet and pretty girl sitting quietly in the back row. They were hesitating about how to ask her for her contact number when suddenly it turned out that she already had a boyfriend. After calming down from this blow, two lively twins walked into the room, giving them an unexpected surprise; however, they cruelly discovered that these beauties ran straight to the boys at the back of the classroom!

Seeing how several freshmen were hit with one blow after another, Hao Ren felt some pressure and waved his hand gently, "Stop it!"

The two sisters immediately fell silent, pursed their lips, and obediently sat next to Hao Ren.

Classes would begin soon, and students started filling the classroom.

"By the way, do you know a freshman in our department named Xu Ke" asked Hao Ren of Xie Yujia.

"Xu Ke I don't remember," replied Xie Yujia after some thought.

"That's the guy who called me to his office last time at the classroom door," explained Hao Ren.

"Oh, him!" said Xie Yujia with a nod. "I don’t know his name; I just pointed out where the educational supermarket was for him when he asked me while Marina pulled me to watch freshman military training."

Xie Yujia looked at Hao Ren and asked, “What’s wrong”

"It's okay. You have more connections in the student council, so could you look into this student’s background for me" Hao Ren said.

The last time Xu Ke came to the classroom door looking for him, Hao Ren noticed that Xie Yujia was also slightly surprised when she saw Xu Ke. He guessed that Xie Yujia had seen Xu Ke before. Now thinking about it, with Marina dragging Xie Yujia over to watch the freshmen’s military training, this Xu Ke must have come over purposely after seeing her.

"Oh, sure!" Xie Yujia didn’t ask any more questions. If Hao Ren wanted to check on this person's background, there must be a reason behind it.

Meanwhile, in the small office of the rock climbing club, Huang Xujie pushed open the door and asked his fellow member sitting in front of the computer, "How is that post Lu Qi posted"

Today was an important day for recruitment by clubs. Usually on the first day back to school after summer break, it’s when freshmen adapt to their new environment. On the second day of returning to school, each club would start its own publicity campaign to recruit as many freshers as possible.

Huang Xujie, a senior in his fourth year, also got up very early and went over to check on the preparations for the recruitment activities at the rock climbing club’s office.

The more members there are, it means he has higher status within the school. The rock climbing club was Donghai University's number one club; however, since Lu Linlin and Lu Lili joined the taekwondo and swimming clubs respectively, their numbers rose sharply, almost posing a threat to the rock climbing club’s position. Huang Xujie even fell out with the other two club presidents over this.

Now another recruitment day had come around; Huang Xujie knew that Hao Ren was going to get involved in this mess and kept a close eye on how each club operated within the school.

"The board moderator pinned it, but there are very few replies." One of the rock climbing club members said while opening up his web page.

Huang Xujie leaned over to take a look; indeed, only three or four students had left comments on this post, and they were just waterposts with no intention of joining any club.

"Hmph. Calligraphy club I wonder what he's thinking. Would people really join such a club" Huang Xujie sneered as he squinted his eyes.

The bigger the clubs in Donghai University, the more money they made. Students who joined these clubs had to pay membership fees and various equipment costs and activity fees. The rock climbing club earned quite a bit of money each year from their climbing gear and outdoor activities.

Hao Ren's "Calligraphy Club" was clearly set up purely for show or out of interest. Huang Xujie wanted to see how many fools would sign up for this pointless club.

Classes at Donghai University were proceeding smoothly, while classes in Lingshao High School across the road were also running normally.

Zhao Yanzi sat in her classroom, leaning on one hand and twirling a pen between her fingers as she looked listlessly at the English teacher lecturing.

The atmosphere in the class was gloomy and depressing on Zhao Yanzi's first day of third grade. She thought that this so-called "distinguished" English teacher’s explanation of grammar wasn't even as clear as what Hao Ren had said.

Ding-dong!

Lingshao High School’s unique class dismissal music sounded, and Zhao Yanzi immediately jumped up and turned to pat Xiao Ling on the back. "Hey! Let's go eat at Hongji Square!"

Lingshao High School had strict management but allowed students to eat lunch outside during their break time. Zhao Yanzi had been confined for an entire morning; now she was finally released.

"Alright, alright, I know. I originally planned on going out with Liu Yuntao, so we’ll go together." Xiao Ling helplessly glanced at Zhao Yanzi.

“Hehe…”Zhao Yanzi dragged Xiao Ling out of the classroom and went to the neighboring class door to find her "boyfriend" Liu Yuntao from Class 3.

Liu Yuntao was a decent basketball player on their school’s team, though he wasn’t one of the main players. He was quite tall with an honest personality and came from a wealthy family. Xiao Ling also thought highly of him. Unlike Zhao Yanzi's preferences, Xiao Ling liked taller guys as they made her feel more secure.

During this summer vacation, Xiao Ling’s relationship with Liu Yuntao had developed rather well; thus, after school resumed, Zhao Yanzi was no longer unfamiliar with Class 3's Liu Yuntao.

Since Lingshao High School and Lingshao Middle School were in separate campuses, some of the middle school staff members hadn't been assigned yet, and their dining hall wasn’t open. Therefore, most students left through the main gate to go eat at Hongji Square.lated that Jiang Yuan wouldn't be yelling like this unless Hao Ren had rejected her pursuit.Since both the principal and vice-principal were inside the library, these student union officials feared th...
