Chapter 433 Hatred Reaches the Heavens
ing calls woke everyone up. On Mondays, the first class was advanced mathematics taught by a very strict teacher; they dared not skip it. Of course, there were students who had skipped before but all...Chapter 433: Overwhelming Hatred
"Welcome, Dragon King!"
Zhao Guang and the others returned to the main gate of the Dragon Palace where over a dozen purple-robed elders and more than ten great generals from the Eastern Sea were already waiting at the door.
At that moment Zhao Kuo had regained his composure, silently following behind Zhao Guang.
The elders looked somewhat surprised when they saw Zhao Kuo return. The generals, however, appeared delighted to see him.
"Third Master is back! Third Master is back!"
Those soldiers guarding the city gates excitedly shouted from atop the walls when they spotted Zhao Kuo.
Zhao Guang and the elders were at the gate, not daring to shout too loudly. Nevertheless, their cheers still reached He Ren's ears.
Zhao Kuo followed Zhao Guang inside the city gates with a stern expression on his face. The purple-robed elders followed in close succession.
The generals bowed respectfully to Zhao Kuo before returning to their posts.
"Is everything normal around the city these past few days" asked Zhao Guang as they walked.
"Reporting to Dragon King, everything is normal near Donghai City," a purple-robed elder who had stayed in the palace replied.
Zhao Guang nodded. "You can all go back now and arrange accommodations for Miss Xie and the two Misses Lu."
“Understood!” The leading elder immediately slowed his pace.
"Xia, you must be tired. Why don’t you rest in the palace today" Zhao Guang turned around to look at Xie Yujia and the sisters of the Lu family as he said this.
"Alright," Xie Yujia replied with a faint smile.
The Lu sisters looked over at He Ren, who nodded. They then followed an elder to their designated rooms.
Zhen Caiming also followed along, and Xiaobai leaped out of Zhao Yanzi’s arms to follow Xie Yujia.
With this, Zhao Guang dismissed the dozen or so purple-robed elders. He then led Lao Lu and Sun Lao, as well as Zhao Kuo, Zhao Hongyu, Zhao Yanzi, and He Ren along with Chancellor Xia into his palace.
The eight of them entered the palace, where Chancellor Xia was immediately instructed to close the doors. They then walked over to the central seat in the hall, which Zhao Guang sat down on calmly, facing He Ren.
Chancellor Xia hurriedly stepped forward and stood by Zhao Guang's side. Zhao Kuo and Zhao Hongyu were seated on either side of him.
This was Zhao Guang’s personal resting palace, so the conference hall wasn’t very large. Once the doors were closed, it became quite private.
"Ren, if you have anything to say, now is the time," said Zhao Guang as he looked at He Ren.
Hao Ren, standing in the middle of the Chamber of Congress, nodded and said, "Firstly, I am resigning from my position as Great General and handing back the token to Uncle Three."
He retrieved the token of the Great General from his芥子空間 (tiny universe) and took a few steps forward, about to hand it over to Zhao Kuo.
"No need!" Zhao Kuo raised his hand. "Just proceed with what you have to say."
Hao Ren didn't insist on it; he put the token back into his芥子空間 (tiny universe) and continued, talking about something more important: "Secondly, I am handing over this item to Uncle Three."
Hao Ren took out Black Dragon Stab from his芥子空間 (tiny universe), held it with both hands, and placed it in front of Zhao Kuo.
The pitch-black Black Dragon Stab, even without infused spirit energy, looked profound and sharp.
"This is something the old dragon king entrusted me to pass on," Hao Ren added.
Zhao Kuo then reached out and took the Black Dragon Stab into his hand.
"Thirdly," Hao Ren stepped back a few steps, returning to Zhao Yanzi's side, looking at Zhao Guang, Zhao Kuo, and Zhao Hongyu sitting in front of him. "The old dragon king has passed away."
The last four words were spoken, and the faces of Lao Senior Elder Lu and Sun Senior Elder standing beside Hao Ren both showed surprise.
Zhao Guang was stunned for a moment; Zhao Hongyu's mouth slightly opened.
Zhao Yanzi couldn't help but exclaim "Ah!" Chancellor Xia lowered his head with a pale face, and the originally stooped body became even more bent.
But Zhao Kuo, holding the Black Dragon Stab, remained expressionless.
The atmosphere was tense for three seconds.
Hao Ren gritted his teeth, standing quietly.
Suddenly, Zhao Kuo stood up.
He leaned the Black Dragon Stab against both sides of the chair's armrests and let it hover above the seat. He then stepped back three steps and, facing the Black Dragon Stab, knelt down with a thud.
Dong...
Dong...
Dong...
Zhao Kuo prostrated himself on the ground twice in quick succession, knocking three heavy head-bows onto the solid marble floor that shattered into pieces.
Blood trickled down Zhao Kuo's forehead. These three head-bows were done without using spirit energy and were truly painful to his body.
"Dad!"
Zhao Kuo cried out in a low voice, tears streaming down his face.
Of Zhao Haoran's three sons, he was the most doting on his youngest son, Zhao Kuo. On one hand, this was because Zhao Kuo had an imposing and fierce personality that reminded him of himself; on the other hand, Zhao Kuo’s talent was exceptional, and he worked harder at cultivation than both of his elder brothers.
Zhao Kuo, a tough guy who never shed a single tear even when facing formidable opponents or severe injuries, did not yield even during the tribulation that determined life and death. However, at this moment, Zhao Kuo was relentlessly pounding on the floor around him, tears splattering onto the cracked floor.
Every detail of Zhao Haoran personally guiding his cultivation practices, Zhao Kuo still remembered in his heart. From when Zhao Kuo broke through to the Tremor stage as a teenager to reaching the peak of the Heaven stage and becoming the number one expert among humans, Zhao Haoran had always been attentive to his growth.
Zhao Haoran, who rarely smiled or joked around, would always display an expression of satisfaction in front of Zhao Kuo.
However, later on, as Zhao Kuo pursued the Heavenly Dragon realm and immersed himself more deeply in cultivation and battle, he visited Zhao Haoran less and less often. After his failure to break through to the Heavenly Dragon stage, he didn't have the face to see his father again; little did he know that it would turn out to be a final farewell.
"Dad!" Zhao Kuo wailed mournfully, pounding heavily on the floor as tears streamed down his face.
In fact, when Hao Ren took out the Black Dragon Spear, Zhao Kuo had already sensed something amiss. Upon hearing the truth from Hao Ren, he could no longer deceive himself.
Zhao Guang and Zhao Hongyu were standing behind Zhao Kuo, both of them kneeling before the chair on which the Black Dragon Spear was placed to pay their respects.
Yuan Zi stared blankly at the Black Dragon Spear propped up on the chair and stepped forward to kneel as well.
Zhao Yanzi was nearly a thousand years younger than Zhao Haoran, and she wasn't very familiar with this "grandfather" of hers. Even during her summer vacations when she accompanied Zhao Guang to visit him in America, she felt somewhat intimidated by him.
However, now that the pillar of the East Sea Dragon Palace was gone and the only grandfather she had left was no more, a sense of emptiness filled Yuan Zi's heart.
On second thought, Zhao Haoran actually cared quite a bit for her. Despite his stern appearance, he never blamed her when she misbehaved in front of him.
The three individuals—Summer Chancellor, Elder Lu, and Elder Sun—knelt together before the Black Dragon Spear.
Hao Ren also stepped forward respectfully to pay his respects by kneeling before the Black Dragon Spear.
Although he only had a brief encounter with Zhao Haoran, Hao Ren was very clear that Zhao Haoran was an upright and heroic figure! An unparalleled overlord!
Zhao Kuo, who was weeping bitterly with his body weakly collapsed on the floor, suddenly got up.
He stepped forward three paces, picked up the Black Dragon Spear with one hand, then turned to Hao Ren and stared at him with a murderous look in his eyes. "What did my dad say"
The threatening manner he displayed suggested that if Hao Ren said even one wrong word, he would cut him down!
And the fact that he never called Zhao Haoran “Father” but simply referred to him as “dad”, demonstrated how deep his bond with Zhao Haoran was!
"The old Dragon King said that this sword will be handed to you personally when you return," Hao Ren replied.
"Handed to me personally..." Zhao Kuo murmured to himself.
This Black Dragon Spear was Zhao Haoran's constant companion. Back in the days of chaos in the cultivation world, Zhao Haoran, commander of the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace, had used this Black Dragon Spear to cut down countless martial experts until humans and dragons finally agreed to divide the land and seas into nine heavenly layers, relocating all cultivator sects above the fifth layer.
However, such matters were very unfamiliar to young cultivators.
"Ah-ah-ah..."
Zhao Kuo raised his head, his eyes bloodshot.
He was full of hatred: at himself for not breaking through to the Heavenly Dragon Realm, at himself for not seeing his father one last time, and even more so at himself for fleeing from reality and ignoring the Eastern Sea!Hao Ren turned to Chancellor Xia and said, "Thank you for guiding us today, good-bye!""Good-bye" Chancellor Xia was momentarily stunned before realizing that the "Son-in-Law" was saying farewell. For H...
